We Are A Board Shop First And Foremost.

Sml started in my garage in 2015, wanted to shape a board on my own. This one board turned into another and another. At the time was working a job that paid the bills but didn't feed my creativity.  All day I would sit and think about getting home to work on a board or help a friend out with a repair. 

Sml Surf Company Was Born

Made the logo and started silk screening t shirts in the spare bedroom, handing them out to friends to wear around town. Had stickers made to tag every sign or give to anyone that would put it on their board or car. 

Friends supported me as I learned shaping and glassing, I made mistakes and learned how to correct them.  Orders were coming more frequently and shirts started to sell. A warehouse space became available and opened my 1st "shop". It was more of a workshop but had some boards for sale and some t shirts, it was working. it wasn't the easiest place to find but people came. We moved to the front side of the warehouse, actual " street side"...

This Is Where Things Took Off

Within a month I was already growing out of the new space, I had to move all glassing work to another warehouse space across town to make things work. Was able to add a small retail area in the shop, fins, wax, leashes, board bags and some Clothes. 

Boards Will ALWAYS Be The Focus

2 shops have always stood out in my mind as true surf shops, Surfers Supplies in Ocean City, New Jersey and Natural Art in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. They weren't filled with tons of clothes and a board or 2, they had racks of boards and mostly their brand clothing. Thats the vison for Sml.
